The Kendleshire The Kendleshire has been open for over a decade and has a great deal to look back over and even more to look forward to in the future. The club has been a success story almost from the word go and has always been very progressive in the way it looks at the game and treats the many players who return to enjoy the 27 holes that are now in play. The original 18 holes were designed by Adrian Stiff and many people consider the layout his best work to date. A further 9 holes were then added in 2002 designed by Peter McEvoy. These are a great contrast to the original holes and require intelligent tee shots and then very accurate approach shots to avoid finding yourself with fiendishly tricky down hill putts. In selecting several memorable holes the 4th, 11th, 16th and 21st will normally be first on the list of both member and visitor alike. All four have water to deal with at some point. The island green 11th is probably the most famous however, of the four, is probably the easiest to play from the forward tees. If you can keep the water out of your mind a simple straight short iron is all that is asked for. The 21st has not only water but is a tough dog leg par 4 with no rest bite when you get to the green. A four is never turned down here. Having played your golf the welcome in the club house is also second to none with great food two bars and a friendly smile at all times. The terrace area overlooking the 18th green is the perfect place to end the day. Playing in to the last green with a knowledgeable crowd however can add a little interest to the final shot!!
